I have a young’en on my crew. He missed work Monday and Tuesday due to rain. I managed to get in full days both days.
Wednesday he worked most of the day. Yesterday he called me over an hour late and told me he couldn’t find his keys.
He showed up bright n early today on payday.
I asked where he found his keys?
He said he didn’t find them but has a spare.

Tell him he only gets paid after five days of work.  And if they don't all happen in one week, the count will start over.

Heard lots of excuses from employees for not showing up, but the one I will never forget was his Mother-in Law  died. When I reminded him that she had also died six months prior he got a deer in the headlights look and after a pause he said " But that one was from my first wife"...Harvey

Had a mid 20's kid quit last week. Took a week off after working first 4 days cause his grandpa died. Give him that, benefit of the doubt. Started taking 1 1/2 hours for lunch. Then quit after another 2 weeks on the job. Said we was being mean to him cause he shouldn't have to work that hard.. Never had to before. He changed oil and mounted tires and that's all.
