HI..I am new to this site.I really enjoy all the information here. This summer I picked up a 170 Diesel and 190xt. I plan on going through them this winter. They both are in pretty decent shape. The previous owner of the 190 said the PTO would slip under a heavy load.just wondering where to look first. He had engine and transmission rebuilt

Thanks
Will

A worn engine clutch can cause the pto to slip.
Otherwise it could be from low hydraulic pressure to the pto clutch or worn discs in the clutch.

Start by making sure the clutch pedal has at least 2 inches of freeplay in it. Check pressures on the Power Director/PTO clutch circuit and make them correct if they are not. Test the PTO clutch performance.

my 190xt pto stops under heavy load. I know it is the foot clutch causing it because i took off with a heavy manure spreader and clutch slipped for a bit. I have oil leaking out the bottom of clutch housing from transmission input shaft prolly getting on the clutch.
