has anyone used an F , G,M,orL for clipping dry beans. If so did you use a spike or rasp cylinder. if spike why? or if you used a rasp why? I have both but was told that the spike has a tendency to throw bean and resadue forward and re chew . what are your experiences? thanks and good luck to all in the fall.

I've never used a conventional combine for dry beans but, have two C II's and one for years was used only for dry (white)beans by the previous owner. It has a spike cylinder and he loved the way it worked. My dry bean experience is with large beans such as dark red kidneys, crans, Otebos, etc. We started with Lilliston bean combines and ended with a BOB's 666. the Bob had two spike cylinders and the least seed coat damage. Ivan Summerix and his Dad were also kidney bean sead growers and could likely give you some good advice.

Always thought the spike cyl machines found their home in MI dry bean country. Not sure why?? My friend runs them near Breckinridge with a 9400 and has to switch some things each year for dry beans, its a few hour conversion what ever he does to it.

I have used both my R52 and a L2 and M2 for white beans. I have never had a spike cylinder, always used the standard cylinder in the machines. I have not used the R52 since we converted the cylinder over to Hyper Harvest arrangement.
