Well get our third cutting in about a week, should have been a 4 cutting year but it was too wet to get into the field for a straight month, alfalfa was all bloomed out and flowers dying before we got a 3 day spell of dry weather!

My fourth cutting is a couple inches of rain from being ready to cut. We havent had ANY rain for almost three weeks and it looks like the alfalfa is getting shorter! Its supposed to rain on us Wednesday and maybe Thursday so let the regrowing begin.

Most places around here only got 1, and a few got 2. Last year we got 4 cuttings. Hay might get pricey this winter. Hopefully I have enough put up for the winter.

I am going to bale some bermuda this afternoon. Just hope the wind doesn't blow my windrows before I can get it baled.
Hope the hay prices are up this year. I have a bunch of excellent quality 6x5 round bales of prairie hay to sell this winter. Looks like I will have lots of bermuda also.
The alfalfa in my area has had 3 cuttings this year. Could possibly be baling some for a couple of neighbors. It has been good hay with very good tonnage.

Is that a 904 mower conditioner? Does it work well? What are the wobble box issues that I hear about? I just picked one up.

Moved the last and baled the last hay of the year tonight. Thanks heavens, thought I was done mowing 2nd three times ago......Now we're out of stuff to cut, PERFECT! Barns have more hay in them than I remember in years.

calvin, sorry thats not an ac haybine , it's a new holland 467. i have a 904 that the wobble box is shot. if anybody has a good one. I bought it at an auction that way. a friend tried to weld it up but it didn't last long. he said it cut good though. power tech, that wc has quite a paint jog but runs real good , has a patched block but no leaks . it also has a sherman overdrive. it's probably that ford steering wheel that threw you off.

They will be lucky to get 3 cuttings out here this year. The big problem is the heavy dew in the mornings and the short days....we have had dew all summer which is rare here.
