2011 had a barn fire left me with a pile of ashes and scrap iron. My somewhat restored WD45 didn't make it. With all the stuff stored in your barn or detached garage it was a hot fire. One thing that I still have is the block appears to be intact. I have not dismantled it. Meaning I have not removed the oil pan and or taken the crank out and pistons . The head was cracked about four places. Removed head sent it to the scrap pile been spraying down the top of the pistons rotating the motor over every 4to 5 months couple turns. So looking for all your opinions on whether to scrap it ,sell it ,get the crank out of it only,

Neighbor had his Gleaner G burn up, it was a really hot fire, everything was warped and sagging afterwards.
I took the 327 off of it and rebuilt it, now it's on our emergency backup generator.
No aluminum parts were there after the fire and block and heads were just fine.

If it cracked the head, i would pull the pistons and look at the rings... and crank bearings... then decide if part out or rebuild.. Check crank alignment.. but if it rotates, it cant be too far off, unless bearings gone.

Completely disassemble it. You need to replace the sleeve seals and cam bearings anyway.

My uncle had a WD-45 in a barn fire in 1964. It was rebuilt and ran well until his shed fire in 2002. I would have rebuilt it again because he bought it new, however he got serious burns trying to rescue his D17IV and died 3 weeks later in hospital from a heart attack
