Can anybody tell me how to set the timing on a WC?  Also, I am looking for both rear fenders.  It is a 48 styled model.

I need a right fender with a good back end, and a left fender with a good front end.  What shape are yours in in those areas?

I took a few pictures when I was putting the mag back on my WC here is a link to them.

If you can't find the mark on the flywheel, you can tell where TDC is by looking at the set screw on the crankshaft pulley, on the WC it points straight down when 1 & 4 are at TDC and it points straight up when 2 & 3 are at TDC.

If the mag is already on the tractor and it runs then it has to be close, fine adjustment can be made by turning the mag with the mounting screws loosened.  If the governor has been removed then you need to make sure the mag mounting slot is horizontal when any of the pistons are at top dead center.  Since the governor/mag-drive turns at crankshaft speed if it is horizontal at tdc for 2 & 3 then it will be again for 1 & 4.

Mine has been coverted to a distributor, it has no mag.  Any help there?  Everything is off the motor and has been cleaned right now.

I would think the distributor might be easier.  The basics are the same, use the finger in the number one spark plug hole while turning with the hand crank to make sure you are on the compression stroke.  Then look at where the rotor is pointing on the distributor and put number one plug wire there.  Then follow around with the plug wires in the firing order 1-2-4-3, in the direction the rotor turns.  When it's running turn the distributor to do a finer adjustment.  You want to make sure the spark isn't happening before TDC if you are hand cranking it, that will kick back and the WC has a real arm breaking kick.  Check with the plugs out and attached to a plug wire then slowly turn the engine with the hand crank and watch for when the spark happens.  With a mag you can listen for the click, but there won't be any click with a distributor.
