I have always wanted an unstyled WC, but was picky as to what shape of one I wanted.  I saw this one ten years ago at Albert City the last time they featured A-C.  I jokingly tried to buy it from my friend Bob since then never thinking I would have the opportunity to own it.  Well, a month before the show Bob called me and asked if I was still interested in the tractor, since that day I am still in disbelief.  We struck a deal at the GOTO and last Tuesday he was coming this way so he delivered it right to our farm!

I havent checked the year for sure, but I think it is a 37.  I know the engine is not original, and I do not know about the wheels.  The paint is about half original, places like the engine, radiator, fenders have been repainted and the hood and gastank are touched up in places.  As far as I know and can tell the decals are original and amazing!  I know it has been in the hands of several collectors for a fair amount of time so it has had some pretty good care.

Thanks Bob for the opportunity!  Now I cant wait for its first show!

Taken at the GOTO

Sorry if theres alot of pictures!  I just really like this one!
Jim

Wow, that is a nice pristine WC.  Congratulations on a super acquisition.  There are not many around in that condition.

What holds the crank on? IS it a spring? Are they available?

I looked this one over at the GOTO in Albert City, as I have a real affinity for WCs and this is a very nice original specimen. I'm sure that it's a 1937. This was the last full year of unstyled WC production & A-C built more WCs that year than any other. It's interesting that the first full year of styled production in 1939 they built the second highest number of WCs. Of course by 1940 they were in war-time production. Kip

Ken, The unstyled WC's had a one piece crank that is hooked on just like the stub ended two piece ones were. It goes all the way through the pedestal and has a spring on the backside.

Dave the serial number is 38942.  Which makes it a 37.  I think it should have the solid rear wheels(you guys will have to correct me) but the spokes are staying!  lol

Jim,
I have a 37 WC with the round spoke rear wheels and front wheels just like your has on it.  Maybe I am wrong, but I thought the spoke wheels were on the 37 models.  Like you, I am interested to see what some of the experts say on the matter.

jim thats one nice wc. I wonder about the wheel thing too. I've got a 34, 36, & a 37 & probable none have the right wheels.

My WC parts book(1954) indicates the 24" spoke wheels used prior to sn 59636. The press wheels were used to sn 81756.
