Kubota Grows in Kansas
August 14, 2020
Linda Salem, president & CEO of Great Plains Manufacturing, and John Quinley, president of Land Pride.
Great
Plains Manufacturing, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kubota North
America, today announced a $53 million expansion project and
750,000-square-foot building purchase to further invest in its Salina,
Kansas, operations.
The building is an existing facility in Salina that will become
available after July 2021. The company will launch operations in the new
facility by the end of 2021 in a phased approach, beginning with
Kubota’s https://www.constructionequipment.com/compact-track-loaders" rel="nofollow - compact track loaders , the SVL65.
“Today’s announcement demonstrates our continued commitment to
American’s heartland and especially to our city of Salina, Kansas, where
we have proudly done business for more than 44 years,” said Linda
Salem, president and CEO of Great Plains. “We will plan to add
approximately 130 new manufacturing jobs to our already 1,450-strong
Kansan employee base as we scale up our operations to meet the growing
demand for Kubota equipment.”
“Increasing the capacity of our operations in Kansas will enable us to
achieve even greater operational efficiencies, expand our footprint in
the Midwest, enhance our logistic capabilities to better service new and
existing markets, and continue on our path to becoming a leading
company within our industry,” said Haruyuki (Harry) Yoshida, president
and CEO of Kubota North America and Kubota Tractor Corporations.
The Salina announcement is the latest in a series of Midwest
investments, including the most recent Great Plains’ purchase of a
350,000-square-foot Abilene production facility, which opened for
operations earlier this year and further expands operations there to
produce Kubota and Land Pride branded products.

That's the orange that is in my yard. Old is Allis Chalmers and new is Kubota.
I'm glad to hear Kubota keeps growing their market share in the bigger ag equipment and implements. Their compact tractors OWN the class, and my Land Pride implements are first rate.

Sorry, cant get on board. Allis orange was good old american product, Kubota is foreign, not the same. The very thing we should be trying to get away from. I don't care if its assembled here, the money still goes overseas.

I understand your feelings and I feel the same when it comes to China, Korea or India.
But try and find any American company that has no money going over seas. Good luck.
And the truth of the matter is, it don't matter if it's electronics, motorcycles, autos or tractors......the Japanese build superior products.
There's a reason every compact tractor regardless of manufacturer has a Japanese engine in it.

I don't disagree about keeping money in our country, but I hope you that are so set on this can do all your little jobs with a AC B or C or maybe a IH Cub. Because not many under 40 hp tractors fully made in USA since the seventies. Even dear old AC was selling Japanese tractors before they went out. Where is AGCO making big ones,I don't know. CaseIH/ New Holland is owned by the Italians with Fiat. That leaves you John Deere.
Believes and what is doable some times are hard to reconcile.

Still employs Americans to assemble, service and sell.
So not all of the money goes over seas.

2 years ago, when I turned 65 I decided to treat myself to a small TLB. Went into the local AGCO dealer, saw a nice MF SCUT TLB. Told sales guy I'd like to buy one, cash. He said' wait for George, he's fixin a chainsaw'. I waited 1/2 hour then walked out. I had 24K on me,said to him 'guess you don't need my money.....' Kubota dealer was PLEASED to see me though, made a killer deal and service has been excellent.
I know, not all the profits of Kubota stay over here, BUT they do employ a LOT of Americans..
I think it'd be very, very hard if not impossible to find a 100% Made in USA tractor these days....
