So I have a brand new clutch and brake pedal shaft to install, but I also need to take the old pedals off so I can have them bored out and a brass bushing installed. Any tips or tricks to doing this without going overboard, or having to figure out how to adjust stuff back properly when everything is back together? Or other tips about it?

Also, thinking of having the hand clutch sleeved as well (not sure I want to mess with the shaft, as I hear getting it out is extremely painful?). Thoughts on how hard this would be to do?

GG,

This should not be too bad, but you do have to take some things apart. Start with plenty of lube. Brake pedals are on same shaft so those have to be free too. The locks are the screws down into the shaft. Those locks have to be removed.

Thanks Chris. Plan to go out this weekend and start spraying stuff down with some penetrant.

I need to look and see what all needs to be unscrewed or pulled off to make this happen. Hoping this will really bring my pedals back up to snuff, I get tired of my brake pedals and clutch pedals hanging up on each other or scraping the frame rail or the fender.

This is a fairly easy chore. Just had my 1949 WD all apart last week.

Unhook left and right Brake Spring. Unhook Brake Rods at Pedals.

Remove Bolt and Locknut from L/H Brake Actuator at end of Shaft.

Remove Bolt and Locknut from L/H Brake Pedal at Shaft.

Shaft slides out from left side to right side.

Probably need a hammer and Drift Punch.

Thanks Gary. Plan to go poke around this weekend, take some pictures, and maybe start to tear into it. Going to try to get one more mowing in before I give it a whirl. Need to start spraying stuff down and making sure I know what I am doing.
