Will a Char-Linn power steering control pump from a 7040 work on a 185? All State Ag parts shows them as two different types. They look identical on the outside.

It might work, but not correctly. A 170-175-180-185-190-190XT-200-7000 will all fit yours. Surely one of those can be found.

Thanks I will have to rebuild the 185 one, the 7040 one I had on the shelf works fine to the right but turns all the way left with a slight turn of the wheel.

That's what I would expect.

If it's leaking at the steering wheel end, replace the quad seal, dust seal and Oring. DO NOT disassemble the whole unit !!!
