Need some expert advice. I have a new throttle quadrant for my WD45 to replace the broken one on now. Here is the situation - The steering wheel is pretty much rusted to the shaft. I dont think even loose juice with heat will get it apart. SO, I want to remove the shaft from the univeral, then replace that too. For some reason the pin just will not budge more than a 1/8" or so. Any experience from the field on this? Has anyone had success removing this piece?

Jeff, I remember replacing the steering shaft universal on my WD years ago but I don't recall having any trouble. You can always try a little heat. If you do put heat on it I would definately replace the universal though because any high heat transfered to those little roller bearings in the universal caps is bad news! Dennis.

If you carefully center punch the pin and take your time it (they) can be drilled out. Replaced mine with roll pins and put a tie wire through them just in case they decide to move. Heat will destroy the rubber seals and boil the grease out of the bearings. Good Luck!

My pins would not budge (either way). Maybe you'll get lucky and be able to drive them out.

I replaced my quadrant not long ago. I removed the steering wheel pretty easy.
I used some heat and a suitable puller and it came right off.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone. I have an angle drill, sounds like drilling them out will be the way to go. I like the roll pin and tie wire idea as well. No worries on the heat, the universal is shot anyway.
