If it is after market, don't torque two outer nuts very tight. They will break off.        MACK

Mack is right about that. And make sure they are straight or you will break the manifold

thanks for the info guys,

I put on the after market manifold yesterday, after losts of filing and carb stud making. One coat of rustoleom high heat primer and two coats high heat black.

Started snugging up the new stud nuts evenly from the inside out. I needed to go back and forth a few times seeing as when i snugged one down another loosened a bit. I progressed very slow and deliberate. Then i just fired it up. lol
She ran great sitting still. No smoke.. no fire :)  I ran it until i thought the thermostat opened , shut her down and let cool. I need to add some coolant so i did. that was all there was time for yesterday. Today I will drive it a bit and let you know how that all goes.

HAPPY 4th!!!!

She ran good today but a little hot. I know the coolant is full and i richened up the mixture.

How do I diagnose the status of the water pump? there are no leaks at the pump so i assume its ok???
