Just bought this 8070 PD tractor a couple weeks ago.  A few questions:  is the serial number that number in the casting just above  and to the right of the pto cover?  Says 2884 there which would make it a 1984 model.  It is a PD and not a power shift unfortunately, and it is hard to shift into high range.  Low range no problem.  Linkage problem?   Everything else works on it including the tach which says 3346 hrs but guys say they are notoriously inaccurate.   uploads/2203/AC2.jpg" rel="nofollow - uploads/2203/AC2.jpg

Sounds like you have your questions answered already.

How much did it cost?

AJL, try turning the steering wheel while you are running the range lever. It helps me with the PS trans.
