I've been working on a friend's Sunner (Chinese) 90 cc four wheeler. I got it all fixed (broken frame) but as I was trying to start it, the ignition switch fell apart. I found another switch with 6 wires like the old one but of course the wires are different color. Got to the point where it cranks over but only runs while cranking it. As soon as I release the starter button, it dies. My question, can I hook the hot wire from the key (only on when the key is on) to the coil? Do I need a ballast resister in the circuit? I worry that 12 volts might be too much for the coil. |

KEY ON HOT should be the wire that goes to the coil.. It is that way in the harness, so you can run a seperate wire if you want........... Look at the coil and see if it is marked.. "MOST" new coils are for 12 v systems and dont have an external resistor. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

Great! Thanks Steve, I thought it might be that way but haven't messed with a small engine like this in years and didn't want to mess it up. Your advice will make a 12 year old young lady very happy! |
