Does ANYONE have the National, skf (or ANY crossable #) for the bearing that rests between the hubs inside the front tricycle casting? I need a new one and the old one was destroyed!

-------------
The problem with reading MLPANKEYS posts, is that they dont make boots that tall.

If you are able to remove the bearing and seal without too much damage I would try a NAPA store.  When rebuilding the front pedestal for my CA I was able to get the new bearing, race and upper and lower seals.  Hope this will help you out!

Don't forget our friends at Sandy Lake.  They may well be able to be of assistance.
Good Luck!

The original bearing there was a Shafer with a rounded cup and rounded rollers.  I think they call them a self centering bearing or something like that.  That bearing is not available anymore, however there is a Timken number for a regular bearing that has the same dimentions but straight rollers and cup.  I think the numbers are:
354A TIMKEN CUP 3.3464 OD .6875 WIDE
355 TIMKEN CONE 1.7500 BORE .8540 WIDE
I don't have the numbers here but they look right.

Tom, the numbers you posted agree with the numbers posted by Joe M back in Sept of '01 so I would think they are correct. I stapled a copy of that old posting in my parts book for reference in case I ever need to replace that brng.
This is why I love this site; a wealth of good information from guys who really like to help each other!!

It bothered me that that brand "Shafer" seemed familiar to me, but I couldn't place it.

I don't even have a clue how it gets used in the front bolster. But today I stumbled on this:

... ad I remembered - aircraft spherical joints. This company still produces Shafer in its manufacturing divisions:

Look to the upper right and download the Shafer Catalog. I'm betting someone with a little time could cross or get an equivalent self-aligning bearing.

Here are the original numbers on the Shafers:
Cup   - Shafer 33454
Cone  - Shafer 33453

If they are available it would be good to find out.  I have called a couple places and they can't get them, but I'm sure someone must have some new old stock out there.  Thanks, Tom

Next time I get on the phone with one of the FBOs at our airport, I'll ask them if they'd do a little legwork for me.

I will send an e-mail out to rexnord & see if any intelligent lifeforms respond.
