I recently purchased a 1968 I400 with the Reverser transmission. I'm looking for some guidance on how to address a reverser that pops into the neutral position when "free wheeling" only. Under load (going up a grade, pulling, or pushing the bucket into a pile of material) it will hold in either the forward or reverse position; whichever is being used. I realize I will likely have to split the tractor to properly fix this so I'm hoping to acquire some general information and direction on the issue before jumping in. Thanks in advance!

Like every other Allis transmission, worn dogs in the shifting collars from grinding gears.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

In an Allis I40 - Industrial D-12 - the 'Reverser' appears to be separate Gear Box between the Torque Tube and the Transmission.

So wouldn't the Lever be moving a Gear forwards and backwards?
