The Service manual for the tractor will give a detailed procedure for installing the governor then the magneto. If you don't have one and your working on it, you need a service manual. Any AGCO dealer should be able to get you one. Or make it simple, just call Sandy Lake.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

The WC has a set screw on the crankshaft pulley that makes it easy to see where in the rotation it is. With the setscrew pointing straight down pistons 1 and 4 will be at TDC, and with it pointing straight up numbers 2 and 3 will be at TDC. The slot that the magneto mounts to should be horizontal in either one of these positions. It might be fun to see how it is prior to disassembly. If it is set to fire early then hand cranking could be dangerous. You will notice that the governor gear rotates at crankshaft speed so every 180 degrees it is horizontal again.

This is why you need the Governor mag drive slot horizontal at the times mentioned in my last reply, and on normal mags this is not adjustable. Then as soon as the RPMs are high enough the impulse coupler pawls pull in and the spark advances to 30 degrees BTC.

Not sure about the WD but my WC governor housing has large hole to the top side of the coupling section and wide rectangular opening underneath also. Just seemed curious. I cleaned out 80 years worth of sludge to get it ready to paint.
