Does anyone have any sources for hydraulic packing for the cylinders on my 715c? I can't seem to get ahold of my local hydraulic shops so I was wondering if there was a cross reference to maybe other brands that I could just order off line. I plan on repacking the cylinders myself. Any help would be appreciated thanks also looking for books on them if anyone has any kicking around they would be willing to sell.

Your local hydraulic shops are your best bet. Keep trying.

There are literally dozens of different packing/seals suppliers to the hydraulics industry, not all specialize in one particular style type or form of seals where someone in a hydraulics shop will know whose catalog to review first, how best to measure for seals etc. Keep trying the shops they are the ONLY experts at this time.

There is NO PACKING in the cylinders , they use ring seals and or lip seals with wear sleeve on pistons . The old packing V ring seals used many years back have been replaced with tight tolerance and high pressure designed applications . Square ring with a backup ring or other type of bearing surface to guide and seal cylinders . Wiper seal is just that now to clean shaft before entering internal gland seals

Ok thanks everyone that's kinda what I figured but it doesn't hurt to ask I suppose. I plan on taking 2 cylinders apart on the front the big cylinder and the bucket tip cylinder hopefully it will be fairly easy on the wallet because I plan on redoing all of the cylinders.

You can try Sandy Lake Imp , or look at MINNPAR site for kits also

I finally got ahold of the hydraulic shop so now im taking a couple of each cylinders on the front to see if they can get the seals for me. Would rather get everything and do it myself.

Hello, ac89. Did you have any luck finding a source for your hydraulic cylinder seal kit? I know that I am going to have to rebuild almost every cylinder on my 715B, and the original seal kit part numbers don't mean anything to anyone... such as part # 1001100-5 (Loader lift Cylinder Seal Kit). I just can’t believe that someone out there hasn’t picked up the spare parts kit for the Allis Chalmers industrial line…

Hello Daedalus. I ended up taking my cylinders apart and brought them to the hydraulic shop and they were able to replace all seals for me at a very low cost.

Many of the seal kit numbers for the old AC line of equipment might be cross referenced by a AC (former) parts guru but they are few and far between now , Herc-U-Lift was a AC dealer here in MN and ND which handled fork lifts and other industrial equipment . MinnPar was the dealer supplier for AC and located in Mpls MN
Or like someone found out many of the parts are standard off the shelf parts at a hydraulic shop .
It's like i needed a O ring for the Steering clutch drum on my FD5 dozer - expensive from dealer and 3 week wait they said - went to industrial parts supplier for O rings I use to use - said they had a minimum order of $25 for parts - but happened to have that size in stock - they could give me 2 samples to try - then if i needed more I could order them - Oh those samples were at no cost .
