UC parts can be found used, Thompson parts will take more looking, things built special for the reverse steering and such, might be some work, there are those on here who cater to the high crops more than others who can guide you more

Hi Guys-I ended up picking up this unit plus another one from him.

It appears there are major design differences between the two even though the tractor serial numbers are not that far apart (S/N 5471 & S/N 63188 (??)...this might be an error).

Anyway, I am interested to know is someone has some of the cane apparatus for the older or newer one as I would like to make it complete (possibly someone who took off the apparatus to make a straight high crop).   Please let me know...thanks.

The one on the back of the trailer has Thomson cast wheels but that doesn't mean they are original. Should have casting marks on wheels and front axle.

I'll keep an eye out for a loader for you.

Thanks Lowell.   I would really like to put the "full" loader on one of these.

Here are some more pictures.

Here is another sideshot of the pair.

Both the old and new one has 21" front tires with the Thomson casting name.  However, the older one is retained by 3 studs while the newer one has 5-6 lug bolts.

Older one has a front beam that looks more like an inverted V.   Newer one is shown below.

Older one has F&H rear cast centers and 36" tires.   The newer one has Thomson centers and 38" tires.

Platforms...amazing differences.   Older one has lever brakes and steering is controlled through linkage to a valve behind the operator.   The newer one has an orbitrol and clutch/brake pedals

UC's had 3 lugs. For 21 inch tires you are only going to find Ford Model A car tires.
