I have an original F&H steering wheel on my 37 WC but the rubber rim is in pretty sad shape.

Has anyone tried to restore one? Seems like when I checked years ago they were using PC7 epoxy as described in Roger Welsch books. It is a thick paste so you build up in layers. The guys on YouTube are using some sort of epoxy putty but it looks like it takes a bit more prep to get it to fill and adhere.

Rick,

I repaired small cracks on my Jubilee wheel last summer. The hard rubber was still in place. I used a cheap epoxy and then sanded it smooth and painted it black. Looks pretty good. The Allis tractors I replaced the steering wheels on three of the ones I completed.

Rick,

Depending on how bad your wheel is and how nice you want it to be, we can get wheels that are in good shape otherwise recovered with new rubber grip. In the process the old rubber is removed, the rim is sandblasted and cleaned only where the rubber is to be installed and a new rubber grip is vulcanized on the rim. If you want to keep the original patina on the rest of the wheel to match your tractor it can be done. You will get your original wheel back, not an exchange. This costs a little more than a new reproduction wheel, but keeps the original wheel and the feel of the "soft" rubber is just like the original, not like the "harder, plastic" feel of some of the reproduction wheels.
