Would anybody happen to know the diameter of the steering shaft-vertical shaft the steering wheel splines onto--just below the wheel? Dad's lifts up and disconnects from the orbital pump, and I'd like to make a collar to hold it down. Problem is it's 250 miles away to measure..

No experience on that model here but think something is wrong with current set up. Doubt it left factory being able to do what that one does. Something missing?

It sounds like you lost the snap ring on the shaft that locates it in the support tube.
