i bought a wd 45 diesel that has been sitting for several years but was running when put in the shed.when cranking it wont start and i cannot get any smoke out the exhaust. i have good supply to the pump and the transfer pump on the side seems to be pumping, i removed the injector lines and with cranking and even slightly pressurizing the tank i still cant get any fuel out of the lines. what is it that could be stuck internally shutting the fuel off? i have messed with the throttle and shutoff lver moving it back and forth and it still seems the same

A hole, called a spill port, is drilled through the lower portion of the pump plunger.  The spill port is connected to the pump chamber by another drilled passage.  The spill port is covered by a plunger sleeve whose position is adjusted by the control lever through an eccentrically mounted pin.
The movement of the control lever controls the up and down position of the plunger sleeve.  The position of the control lever is determined by the governor.  When the sleeve is in its extreme downward position, the spill port is immediately uncovered as the plunger begins its delivery stroke.  This causes all of the pressure from the pump chamber to bleed off to the pump return.  In this position, there will be no fuel delivery to the injectors.
When the plunger sleeve is in the extreme upward position, the spill port is covered until the plunger almost reaches the end of the delivery stroke.  This position will deliver maximum fuel to the injectors.  As the plunger moves upward, the pressure developed in the pump chamber unseats the delivery valve.  Fuel flows into the distribution chamber and is sent by the slot in the plunger to whatever injector is scheduled to receive it.
The amount of fuel delivered by each injection charge will increase proportionately as the plunger sleeve is moved from its extreme downward to its extreme upward position.  The higher the plunger sleeve, the longer the plunger movement before the spill port is uncovered.

the metering valve or rollers in the pump or even the fuel shut off could be gummed up diesel over the years kinda turns to a tar like substance im not familiar with the wd45 pump but about all the rotary pumps use a similiar principle just my thoughts.

One problem that these bosch PSB pumps can have from sitting for several years is that the plunger will stick in the hyd. head. This plunger moves up and down to the build your injection pressure and it also spins to deliver fuel to the fireing cylinder. When the plunger sticks snd you try and start the tractor it will twist the end of the plunger off. When this happens you have exactly the same problem that your haveing. The down side it that the hyd. head and plungers are no longer available form Bosch. I have heard from a few guys around here that they took there pumps  to the diesel shop and the shop sent it to Argentina where they make these parts and then have it shipped back to them. I was told that it's not the expensive but takes almost a year to get your pump back.  I'm guessing that this is what happend to you. so your probably going to have to take the pump off and have it rebuilt. I have been warned by The pump rebuilder that i use that if you get a tractor with a PSB Bosch that doesn't run take the pump off before you try and crank it over. Hope this helps Matt
