I usually spend most of my time on here reading and very little time posting. I'm also not one to normally share family issues, however, right now I'm looking for all the help I can get. My Dad is currently spending his second week in the hospital with no idea how long his stay will be. He has been living with diabetes for over 20 years now. The past few years he has been out of work battling an infected ulcer on his left heel that just would never heal completely. Lately, he started feeling worse which has led to this second hospital visit in less than a months time. The doctors now say that the infection has moved to his right foot with a hasty vengeance. Actually, both feet now show infection including inside the bone severe enough to soften it. General antibiotics don't seem to affect it so samples were taken to culture and determine what stronger, more specific antibiotics to use. They are trying to schedule him for surgery Friday to remove some dead tissue(muscle and other soft tissue) from inside his right foot. We have already been informed that if they can't stop/reverse the infection, he could very likely lose one if not both feet to this. The fear is that it could start spreading up his leg(s) thus making it even worse. He is taking it better than I thought he ever would but it still is killing me that I'm not able to be there with him like I feel I should be. I kid him that maybe if there wasn't so much orange in his blood he might feel better as there would be more room for oxygen or red blood cells. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers and I'll try to post an update once I know more. Thanks so much- Lionel Lambert

Think for yourself and be your own expert. Be willing to change your mind; however, willingness to change your mind doesn’t mean that you will. Blindly following any path is the pinnacle of insanity.

Prayers coming your way from Elberton GA. I have a good friend who recently lost his other leg to diabetes. He lost one last year, the other a couple of months ago. He did not take care as he should have. I pray your father has a better time of it. They have come a long way with what they can do.
