Well I just went to the barn again to check on the 1937 WC and kick myself for what I did. I'm quite embarrassed to say this but about two months ago I hooked the Allis up to the teddar to see what she could do after sitting for as long as it did. The tractor handled the tedder like a pro but unknown to me the seal in the pto failed while I was using it. I did not know this until I went back to the barn a week or so later and saw the puddle of gear oil under it like in the picture below.
When I went to move it the shifter would not even think about going into a gear no matter what I did so I assumed the worst. But today in the midst of torturing my self I had a somewhat goofy idea. I had origionally thought that the transmission was locked up and I might have to look for a new one but I remembered that the PTO on those tractors works through the transmission so if the PTO spins the transmission must not be frozen. So I started her and held the clutch with the clutch lock, greatest invention ever, and pulled the PTO rod and it spun beautifully. Then I climbed into the seat and was able to put the transmission in all 5 gears with no trouble at all. So now I know it is not stuck but before she moves much at all it is off to get a seal that I priced form AGCO for $55 OUCH!!!
