Wondering if anyone has replaced these pins/rods ? Have one that is very rusty with lots of play . Will a 1/2" steel rod cut to size work ? Thanks

That's what I used on my 190 seat. Just have to drill holes for the roll pins.

I just did all the pins and bushings on my d15 seat. Pretty much torch everything out.

Bought new shock also.

Got everything I needed at DJS tractor. Yes there is roll ins in each rod . New rods come pre drilled.

Thanks cory

Thanks Cory . If only I had a torch . I've seen those in the catolog . Only have one that's really bad . Beginning to think it's going to stay wobbly .

I always just cut them into with metal blade on reciper. saw. Cut on both side then drive out rest of pin from seat plate. Goes quick !! Cut new pin from cold roll and replace . Most of the time I used cotter pins instead of roll pins. Have not had one fail yet.

Lots of heat, penetrating oil and hammering.  I have done it on several of my seats already.  I get my local fab shop to put new bushings in and make new pins out of stainless so they do not rust.
It's the best thing you can do to improve the ride on these old seats.  Day and night difference.  It is a bit of work, but you will notice the difference.

Make sure you have all the roll pins removed first.

IIRR, there's only 1 in the center...

Comes out better if you have the appropriate roll pin punch...

Lay the seat frame on its side and drive the 1/2" pin downwards with a short fat punch and a 4 lb hammer. Doing it this way will shear off the roll pin so you don't have to remove it. Do this with the roll pin down. The seat frame has to be supported against something solid when you start hammering against the pivot pin.

Thanks Dr Allis !

I guess I sometimes use a deep socket to lay the seat frame against, using the socket as a die to drive the pin into making it solid when you hammer away.

Started on the rusty seat pin removal today . Looks to me that if you want to replace the shock you have to pull a couple lower pins ? Sound right ? Thanks
