I have a Deutz-fahr round baler (kinda related to Allis but perhaps in a bad way). Hope no one is offended putting my question in this section. Works amazingly well and is reliable in hay, but wear and tear and years of work makes baling straw another matter. It has steel rollers instead of belts. The only thing I can think of causing it to bung is the smoothness of the rollers (I've tried slower travel and faster -same result). Am I missing something? The coating on the rollers has worn away and I think now there isn't enough grab when baling slick straw to keep the bale turning-result-big bung.When I open the baler I have a partially formed bale (about 3 ft in diameter that weighs about 25 lbs).Does anyone have any ideas of what's going on or what I can coat/paint the rollers with (if that is the problem). They originally used something that looked like stucco when it was on. As always I'm behind the eight-ball-straw in field-no baler.

Bale at night or evening when the straw is a little damp. Only way to beat it.

I HAVE PAINT THE ROLLES. BUT USED SAND AND GLUE. MIX IT ALL TOGETHER AND USE A BRUSH .

Not familiar with that baler, some round balers you can weld the rollers up to give more grip. Use small diameter welding rod and weld criss crossing beads on the rollers. Small sections at a time so you don't overheat them. I have also seen some had linex bedliner installed. Don't waste your time with the cheap DIY hurculiner/duracoat crap, they don't last but a few hours and are pealing off. Rhino liner as rough as linex but will last. Make sure you sand blast with new sharp grit media before having the rollers coated.
