My sons and I went to the Outlaw Truck and Tractor pulls at the fair today. There are still a couple of 190s and a D21 given em heck yet. McKim tractor had a nice hard running 190 there that was quite competitive.  Powermax I think they called it. The funny thing is, the announcers were lamenting the end of the orange AGCO tractors, and then I noticed there was not one representative of the massey line there. In fact, I have never seen a massey pulling with the big boys. Can't they compete? Is the perkins not a good candidate for "souping up"? Rear too weak? Just too darned ugly? My bet is on the too ugly option.
Any way you look at it, Richenhagen sure chose the bum steer of the bunch.

Oh. I stand corrected. I assumed it was a 190, but I was far enough away I couldn't really see the decals. It is a hard runner. When you consider that it starts with at least 100 fewer cubic inches than the majority of the competition and can compete with all the rest, you just have to be impressed.  That 180 catches alot of competitors off guard, I'll bet.

Too bad Wayne Longnecker broke something in the gear box. That Rolls Royce Griffon engine has a sound/thunder all it's own.

Two of my 3 favorite tractors.  Powermaxx, River Rat and the Texas Bullwhip is my third.  I love watching McKim wind up spotting 100 cubic inches and in a class that Twinstates runs, I think 1500 lbs.  They have an 8000lb open, 2wd 4wd, any tractor anything that meets safety rules and weights 8000 lbs.  Every time I see that class pull, McKim wins it.  Dad and I talked to him a couple of years ago in his shop.  Was more than willing to talk pulling with us.  I held one of his pistons and rods in my hands and saw the "special" head he was working on.  Just awesome to watch.
