Picked up a mechanical lift for a 1939 wc , need information on taking it apart , shop manual only shows the break down.

I would imagine you are talking about the "Power Lift" that mounts on top of the torque tube.  they were used for Cultivator lifts.  There was a plate you removed.  Connected to a worm drive in the drive train.  The later WC's had a throw out lever behind the plate so you did not have to be moving to lift the implement.  Some of our customers Jury Rigged them for side mounted mowers.  That was before the sophisticated hydraulics we have today.  Worked fine. 
Don't recall to much on them.  In fact, I can never remember replacing or repairing one  At the time they were not that costly probably easier to replace then to repair.

Probably not worth trying to install these option to my WC.
Will probably need some parts after taking apart .
