Well the work continues for my grandfathers D15 diesel series I. Remarkably I have only broke 2 bolts. Yes when I separated the engine from the bell housing there was a mouse condominium inside there, can't wait to see the brake housing. I will continue to post pictures under this title. Finally got the motor on a stand now to strip it down some more.   Tore off the head and this is what I found....Wow!   |

| If it was mine (which it isn't), I wouldn't spend one dollar on that block with the freeze patch on the side. Find a different block or maybe a complete engine. |

WOW ! I'm thinking a 'donor' is needed for another block ?? What's the square 'block inspection plate' for ?? | Yes I believe a donor block is in order. I do have a block and the head from another tractor. The patch on the side is where the block had a crack and that was my grandfathers fix. Tractor was running when put into the barn and the patch was holding cause it was just an external crack. Still got to get into the ole girl a bit deeper and see what else I will find. lol |

Jolly, Ok that may not buff out as mentioned!:) Now dont be taking that engine out of that nice looking tractor setting there either. Thats just not fair! What is the size type of tires on the good looking tractor? I am about ready for a set of tires in 28 inch size. Really hate to see you have that much damage. Those Buda diesels are expensive engines. Hope you find one reasonably priced. Definitely worth saving your grandpa’s tractor. | Chris, the tractor behind the block is an Allis Chalmers ED40. No I will not use that engine. I am finishing up the sheet metal for that one. The tires are 28" and are a knock off of the Firestone. As for what cracked the block I am unsure, probably a hard winter in Ohio where we are from. The tractor was used to farm with for a bit but then became what we used to haul the crops to the grainery. Grandpa then used it to pump water of the land. She sat there running all day and night when water was high. He would drive back to the tractor just to dump more diesel in it. She ran and ran till she got wore out and was burning more oil then diesel. He parked it to get the engine rebuilt but it just cost to much so I inherited it. |

jolly, Those look like the Crop Max tires I have been getting. I need to order another set for spring pulling. So far I like them. Good luck with your engine rebuild/ replace project! | I'm thinking the same power steering ram/steering shaft/steering control valve clearance issue would rear it's ugly head and force one to have to go with hydrostatic control and an external cylinder on a wide-front only style axle.....?? |

| Not sure of that type of engine the 2200 is. My D15 used a buda d175 engine diesel. I know the HD3 used the diesel engine that is in my D15, but am unsure of the adapter plate used to mount to torque housing. |
