Looks like a Series IV with a D19 3pt back end? Has loader, runs. with wheel weights. $3.5K. Should I?

Dont think it is, but current owner said the previous owner told him it had a "D19 rear axle" which means?

Which means, he doesn't know what he's talking about. I can't see everything, but if it has 28 inch rear wheels, it ain't no straight axle D-19 rear end. Looks like a series 4 D-17 what I can see.

Like Doc says anyone that knows anything about Allis tractors can plainly see it's a D17 series iv with factory 3 pt. A D19 has a straight axle, all you have to do is look!!

well if you dont know what to look for, looking aint going to do much. He clarified and said it was the actual internal axle that was from a D19.
Anyhoo I await some more pics of whats behind the homemade cab. Might look at this Saturday.

I don't like the cab but if it runs it's worth the money around my area anyway.

It doesn't matter what it's supposed to be, look at the serial number and that identifies what it actually is!
Find out if the guy has the fenders, they might be in pristine shape. I think I would look over those from rims close, it might need new ones if they are cracked from loader use. Why is there only one tire chain on it? Why does it have a new bolt and nut in the front axle? Does it fall out of any gear? Does the big stick work as it should? How are the rear rims around the valve stems?
If I think of any other questions I'll be back!

D-19 3-point hitches don't bolt up to a D-17 IV- 170-175-180-185. They are a couple inches too wide and bolt pattern is different.

All depends on why it don't work. Could be adjustment from outside to a split. Most likely a split. MACK

If the foot clutch is totally destroyed, they might think it's the Power Director. Can't say I've ever had a Power Director clutch that wouldn't move, at least in one of the two ranges.

Tom, You did the best you could trying to get it. Maybe if you actually could start it and try to move it you would have a better idea of the issues. Reminds me of the WD I bought and the owner thought the hand clutch was a hand brake He said it did not work very well:! Sounds like your offer was generous. Regards, Chris

I suppose I could drive up there..but 3.5 hrs away and Id hate to come back empty handed. And if you'all havent figured it out by now, Im not the most mechanically inclined nor knowledgable of D17 Trannys to make a decent field diagnosis. No bigee...Im back to getting that loader off the derelict 175, making a front pump for my S1 D17 and mounting it there...BTW I then find another very nice S-IV with loader about the 2.5 hours away. Only 2K hours. Wants 5.5K . More than what I can spend right now even though its a fair price.

Changed the fluids, new battery, new one wire alternator and used it to bale hay and other things since then.did have to have $500 work on the injection pump.Actually now that I think about about it almost all my tractors were bargain buys(LOL)
