I have removed the fuel pump on my 170 diesel because it was leaking fuel out the lower fitting and oil out the gasket. I will be putting on a new pump and the line from the tank to the pump but am confused about the proper line fittings. The old line is copper and has just a single flare at the end. There is a rubber piece between the flare and the nut. At the top of the fuel pump the fitting has what looks like a furl on the line with the rubber and then the nut. Neither line looks right to me. I have searched but can’t find any photos or info. Can anyone clear this up for me? My other 170 is gas and it has normal double flare ends on the line.

That's how most are put together, I'd replace the rubber pieces as they crack and leak air, go to a diesel shop tho , .30 cents compared to Agcos $4.25 a piece!

Doug thanks for the reply and the info on a diesel shop. I went to a diesel expert a couple of towns away and he graciously gave me his time, advice, a bunch of the rubber seals and a couple of fuel filter housings. The threads in one of my housings are not great.

Yeah those lines have a slight swell on the end and a rubber ferrule under the nut. They actually work quite well.
