you need to remove the chrome trim ring that's been 'rim rolled' on, which ain't fun ! I have to assume the pros have new rings and a 'rim rolling tool' they use when repairing/rebuilding any guage.
If you don't mind a few scratches and 'used/abused' look, a couple thin, flat, wide screwdrivers will remove the ring.

The gauge operates, the background is dirty. There must be a way to change the background if they rebuild them.

Harold, we can restore functional, operating gauges. For the traction booster gauges it makes sense from a money and quality stand point. Gauges are disassembled, new background plate with correct graphics screen printed, needle is painted, and reassembled with new bezel and glass. PM, call or email me for details.

Thanks guys,
I have met Marks Dad and seen his awesome collection of toys and Allis items and big tractors and trucks too! My friend Gary and Marks Dad went to school together. Great to see that Mark has steped up and is going to help keep old Allis machines going!
I think I am going to need a new Traction booster gage assembly,  as mine does not function.
Regards,
 Chris

I read somewhere the other day that someone said you could use a very thin knife and go around the edge of the glass to remove the bezel, claimed it worked for him.  I too have a couple working gauges that are in need of a refurb, one is missing the mounting bracket on the CA.

yeesh.... 'very thin knife' ??!!?!!!!
I'd be ultra careful ! the trim ring is 'rim rolled' on, so a tight fit a thin knife will probably break and that flying into your eye WILL CAUSE DAMAGE !!

That being said.. it'd be neat to see a video on how it's done......
