Started out at 7:30 with a mowing job....6' tall spearmint that hadn't been cut in years....poor old 175 would only cut 4' at a time in 2nd low. The last job was a 20 acre patch and 3/4 of the way thru the stump jumper flew off one spindle of the MX8. I was able to crawl under there and lift it back on....that thing is heavy when the blades are on it! Tightened the bolt and started it up....duh I forgot they had to be timed. That was a nice way to mess up the blades....finished up at 7 tonight feelin like an old man. ------------- ALLIS EXPRESS! This year: |

Remember it is (was) Monday. How's the Jet Star coming? A neighbor has one that I'd known since it was new in 1961. Talked him into letting me take it to the small show we have at the County Fair. Battery was dead and the tractor hadn't been pressure washed in 30 years. Still, it looked ok. Figured the kids wouldn't climb on it as much, "Don't get on that one Billy, it's all greasy!" WRONG! neither the kids or parents cared, a lot of the easy to get too grease was worn off, pressure washed the rest before returning the tractor. The owner and his wife were really excited at how nice it looked. He broke his hip last fall and has to use a walker of canes to get around. Seriously doubt if he will ever drive the tractor again but his son will keep it with the farm. The Jetstar hasn't moved in a couple of months. It fired up all winter long, but when it warmed up it won't even pop....haven't had time to check for spark. They are a tall tractor to climb on...can't imagine a guy with a walker tryin to get on one. ------------- ALLIS EXPRESS! This year: |

I guess I shouldn't complain too much...it could have been a lot worse. The hydraulic driveshaft is working great on the 175 now. The dropped stump jumper could have done a lot of damage had it decided to not just drop off and spin in the dirt...and I did get all three jobs done and come home with $700 in my pocket. ------------- ALLIS EXPRESS! Matt it is the plate that the blades bolt to....instead of the old flat style, newer mowers are dish shaped so if you should hit a tree stump they will lift the mower over it instead of breaking the gearbox. ------------- ALLIS EXPRESS! This year: |
