| That's not quite true. I spent about 5 hours working on cleaning it up. I did get 2 small areas cleaned up. Had to quit about 3:00 because of pain in the old spine. Gots about 1/2 load to go to the scrap man. Probably work on it some more after church tomorrow. Finally got the space opened up for my bolt bin against the east wall. I can't wait to get this thing done. Dang, leg mussels are stiff, can't hardly walk tonight. Probably be 2 or 3 more weeks of cleaning. Then I got to start on the west 1/3rd of the barn. Merry Christmas to.all you folks. Hoping you all have a great 1. |

Yep every dreaded fall I have to clean and straighten up my 2 1/2 car garage so I can sneak 1 vehicle in for the winter. Usually takes 2 sometimes 3 days, 4-5 hrs each. I don't hurry as the more I hurry the less I get done. Slow but sure, and never enough time to do it right but always time to do it over are my two favorite mottos. Father in law died and I have been cleaning up his place.. Lived there for 50 years and NEVER put anything away, NEVER threw anything away, NEVER fixed any tools that broke. Got 16 ball and claw hammers... 2 are usable. Got 3 sledge hammers,..1 is usable. Have nails in 6 boxes, 12 coffee cans, 4 mason jars, and two old socks... I have been at this a MONTH... Have burned probably 5 cubic yards of stuff... We took 3 truck loads of cloths / dishers/ bed covers/ western books/ etc to the Help Center .....Just about done.
Anyone got a use for 5 gallons of 80-90 gear lube that he drained out of the D17 in 1986 ?
 ............How about 10 quart bottles of motor oil, each one has 1/2 inch in the bottom ? Got 25 one gallon cans of paint, each has 1-2 inches in the bottom, half are HARD ?------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

| Wow. Sounds like the experience we went through after FIL passed. 30 acres of cars,tractors, mobile homes, and tires. Four buildings chock full of the same. A year of weekends to sort, scrap, burn, and final auction. Anyway, my shop is long overdue as well. Volunteers? |

I have the dreaded shop cleaning project looming over me too! I procrastinate about it almost every day! I even added more storage and counter space which is tottaly clutterd with stuff! We have stuff from family members homes and our home. My wife and I are both collectors! Very bad when two people in the same house have the same issue! We have cleaned out my folks place and her folks place both the same! Massive amounts of junk and many days. months, and years getting through most of it. Yes we have a problem! Good luck on the garage cleaning! I love seeing folks with the clean super organized garages! Mine will just never be that way. I know my brain just does not go there! My saying is its not what the shop looks like its what comes out of it that I want to be proud of! Regards, Chris

| With my yellow monster holding center stage my shop is not seeing much cleaning. Will get there at some point then I too have to de-foul the barn with the parts Donor within. |

guess I'm not the only one that needs to 'tidy up a bit'.... I suppose the sooner I start, the sooner I find my wayward 3/8" drive 1/2 deep 6 point socket. It goes 'walkabout' every 3-4 years , I 'find' it , then week later, sigh, yup, it's gone again. Knowing what to keep or toss is a dilema though. Had a huge( can't drg ,let alone lift) box of casters..finlaly tosed into scrap...4 months later 'someone' asks me if I have any. I say 'sorry, too late..gone to scrapyard', same as the 2 complete D-14 loaders. ------------- 3 D-14s,A-C forklift, B-112 Kubota BX23S lil' TOOT( The Other Orange Tractor) Never burn your bridges, unless you can walk on water |

I was gonna start that project today. Bout as far as I got was buying a holder for the paper towel roll at Wally World. BTW there was a lot of honeys there today.  |

| I have several sets of casters. One project is to make a rolling cart for the grease bucket and hose set I picked up at auction. Put up some brackets to hang weld cables and keep em off the floor. |

| Actually got drug to Menards again last night. Bought a new broom and dustpan. I found a on /off throw switch for my air compressor that I had bought several years ago. Got that put up today. I'm gonna uncover the bolt bin I bought at a sale 5 or 6 years ago. I will get that moved over against the wall tomorrow. Then I have to deliver honey to our Fairway grocery store and then pick up a steel box so I can put a light above the table saw. Things are getting there. |

Spent about all day, puttin up a bolt bin, I bought at an Auction, Saturday... Hadda empty it out, to lessen the weight, so's I could lift it, up on the wall. Then Hadda re-sort alla them metric bolts, that came in it, man whatta job! had 2 kinds of 10 mm bolts, fine thread and coarse. Garage has been done since Thanksgiving. Now come the beginning of May the house gets it's spring cleaning. It's a life cycle.

Bolts at FIL house were scattered in 1 pound cans all over the garage. All different sizes in each.... What I did is pour 2-3 cans on the work bench and quickly separate them into 1/4 - 5/16 , then 3/8 -1/2 , then bigger than 5/8 ... end up with about 10 pounds in 3 different bins....... This is not a daily work shop, just something for BIL and his kid to work in once a month when they come from the city... The can take an extra 2 minutes to leaf thru one bin to pickout the size / thread / a washer and nut for the job........... Makes cleanup time go faster this way............. Did the same for wood screws ---- 8 sizes in one bin. and nails---- small nails, medium length , then 10-16 penny all together.
and 90% accurate is OK... if I end up with a couple 3/8 bolts in the 1/4-5/16 bin, WHO CARES ? ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

Mom and dad have been gone for 14 years and there is still stuff at the farm that I don't know what to do with. Maybe should have got the wife to help as she has no emotional attachment to anything and that includes me. 65 and sunny here, so I cleaned out one of the feed rooms. 6 loader bucket full. In Jan, Feb, and March we are having open farm almost ever weekend, so I got to get the place cleanup. Over the 7 weekends, I hope 1-200 people showup. What most likely will happen, is one day it will be 65 and sunny, and there will be 100 people here at one time. |

hated cleaning out Grandmother's house and Dad's estate stuff. Really had no purpose for much of it so donated A LOT away. What would not be acceptable tried first to sell then went to dumpster, maybe the boys at the dump needed some presents. Wife is OVERLY emotionally attached to her Mom's and Dad's stuff, Gus been gone 12 years now, Jess close to six, they really do not care what happens to their excess collections of nothing but the wife gets all pizzy, "That was Mom's" or "Dad would never throw that out". Sorry to say much is just trash and junk, nothing of any real value where even the grandkids said NO Thanks. Broken Tools, Left Over kitchen mechanisms worn slick not even intrinsic values anymore. Clothes were given to Homeless and many of them just threw away as just trash. Have six moving boxes of Nothing to be rid of as cleaned the rest out. Three years ago fought the tears away as the wife bawled her eyes out burning her Dad's payroll records of fifty years, he had Saved EVERY Slip of paper he ever got from a company. BOXES of stuff as forty year old furniture bills that the furnishings were LONG Gone, repair receipts for tires or oil changes from Thirty plus years, cancelled checks since they were married, was NOT good. |

| I got to do a little more today. I moved the new shut off switch for the air compressor. I will get another one for the wheel balance and mount beside it. But I gotta be in to the horsepistol at 6.30 am to get my nose bored out. When I got up this am I could breathe like never before. It didn't last long. By noon the dang nose was stopped almost completely up. Hoping to fix it so I can breathe. Doc already told me NO lifting over 6 lbs for the next 3 weeks. Guess I'mwhile.in the shop for a while. |
