| Chris, I’ve always enjoyed looking at your & everyone’s pictures and never figured how to post any. I don’t have many while they are working because I’m usually on them. Have many pictures around hay because I take pictures for my hay customers at most operations so they know what they’re getting. Thank you for the kind words, I hate to see these old machines get picked apart when they are not brand new condition. |

Allisbred, I did a lot of haying work with these tractors. I remember we had some very heavy clover that kind of went down and we were still using a New Idea 7 foot pull behind sickle bar. We could only mow to the west. Turn around and drive all the way back to the other end to make the next pass. About that time Dad bought a New Idea flail mower. It would cut anything! Made the 45's grunt in thick stuff! | Very similar to what we had. Had a 80S on a 45 just like mine and pull behind NI crimper when I was a little guy. Watched my father cut a lot of alfalfa and Timothy with it sometimes in 3rd gear. Then I remember mowing with a NI flail mower, did a very nice job behind the 45. Sucked up down hay very well. That left when we went to the haybine but ended up with a MC rotary scythe that was just a heavier version of the NI for the downed stuff. |
