D15 Series II, gas.

Manual steering pump vent tube - located on front in of radiator off set to right side if looking at tractor.

After decades, its suddenly spewing motor oil out of the 4 inch tall vent tube. Not hydrallic oil, motor oil. I see no "possible cause" or referance to this in my shop manual.

Any ideas ?

If that is true (engine oil level is definitely going down) the shaft seal on the power steering pump is bad allowing the power steering pump to suck engine oil thru it.

Is the power steering pump part of the governor set up ? What I mean is, theres no other stand alone pump I can find that's plainly apparent as on my other tractors.

If theres a way I can post pic tell me n I will.

You noted manual steering in first post?

If PS, the 15's do not like to be overfilled and will puke when weather gets cold, even if auto trans fluid originally called for or 821 approved fluid used in bolster.

I try and keep my 15's where the 821 fluid is just barely covering the gear teeth.

I don't believe you want to use motor oil . . . .

The shop manuals got me all mixed up. Its calling the vent tube up front "The manual steering vent tube". And, I've never had to address any steering problems so I honestly dont know wth the power steering pumps located. I will say it's easy turning the wheel so MUST have power steering. Wheres the power steering pump located so I ca pull it ? I'll look at the manual in the morning also. LOL, yeah I never put motor oil in any hydraulics resivor

The power steering pump is directly below/underneath the ignition distributer assembly. Are you absolutely sure you are loosing engine oil ??? This is important.

The power steering pump would be more likely to loose oil into the engine.

The PS pump could suck in air from a bad connection (or bad shaft seal, which I have never seen as of yet) and boil oil out the breather, yes. That is why I've asked the question are you SURE you are losing engine oil???
