I have a 1957 WD45. It runs a bit and quits. The carb has been "worked on" a couple of times, but the problem persists. There aren't a lot of guys around here who can work on and old Allis. Where can I get a rebuilt/re-manufactured carb or a kit I can use on this one. Thanks in advance.

Neb I can help you rebuild the carb several sites have the rebuild kits for the 45 carb . Get the number off of the tag that number will tell you which carb kit to buy.... I believe DJS has them or Steiner tractor parts or you can find them on ebay. First take the sediment bowl off and check to see if you are getting good gas flow from the tank. I am not an expert but if you still have problems let me know I am 1 hour from you. Hope this helps you.

I don't think it's a carb issue. I think it is more a fuel delivery problem. Could be junk in the fuel tank, a plugged screen in the sediment bowl, a gas cap that is not venting properly or even a plugged air cleaner.

Thanks for your response. I had rust/settlement problems a couple of years ago. I had the tank boiled out and coated by a radiator company. That cured the contamination problem from the tank. I have removed the carb drain plug twice to check gasoline flow. Its good.
We have one mechanic in area who understands the old equipment. He has gotten it running twice, but the problem returns. He said a butterfly valve was sticking, but I believe that was a guess. He is extremely busy and I don't think he has really tried to diagnose the issue so I think I should take a run at it myself.
Thanks for the suggestions on a kit. My time is in short demand right now so I won't get back to the Allis for a bit, but I will probably be back in touch for advice when I get the time to work on it.
Good to hear from a Kansan and not all that far from Paola, my home base.
