It was the gathering of the D17's outside my repair shop today so I thought I'd snap a couple pictures. Top D17 is late series I, did a clutch job and replaced some small parts, waiting for the customer to pick it up. The guy uses it to haul hay wagons and rake hay.
The 2nd D17 is a mid series I. I repaired the power director, and fixed some oil leaks, just finished the tractor this morning. Guy uses the tractor for food plots, plowing snow.
The 3rd D17 is a late series III. Its scheduled in after the 200, needs some oil leaks fixed, different muffler and has way too much free play in the rear end or differential that needs to be fixed. The customer uses the tractor on his small hobby farm along with other Allis's and a 4020.
The G is scheduled after the D17. Needs a rusted clutch fixed.
The 200 will go into the shop tomorrow to get the rear end swapped with a good rear end, needs bushings in the power director linkage, and the injectors checked out. Guy uses this on a small 40 cow dairy farm with another 200, 185, 6080, 8010 and newer JD loader tractor. Mostly used on the spreader in winter.

Alex, what do you think about the aftermarket wide front on the  D17?

That one is a Norden. The center steering arm has to be modified for the wide front to work. Steers just as easy as the Allis wide front, but the tractor has power steering. It is harder to do maintenance on the steering gearbox with the Norden vs the factory wide front. The mounting angle brackets interfere with some bolts. I didn't get to check if the turning radius is the same, but I would guess its not as tight. Overall, I can't see any advantage to the Norden over the A-C wide front
