Was checking tractors for mud dobber nests, shined a light down into air cleaner on my C--no filter elements. Does not seem to be accessible from bottom...does the top come off?
Need to use this tractor but not w/o air cleaner.
Thanks for any help.

If you are looking from the top you won't see any as that is a straight thru tube that goes into the oil , then the air goes thru the oil and then through the steel mesh that you can see if looking at the bottom without the oil cup , through the oil wetted mesh and out the side port to the carb.

Thanks, Ted - understand now.
Found a dobber nest in the air cleaner cap - any idea how to keep them out? The cap has nothing in it to stop them.

The shop manual should give air input and air cleaner details:

How can it not be accessible from the bottom? That's how you change the oil. How about a picture of that air cleaner?
