Chit,,I couldn't find the thread I started on the  1982 Silverado,,,so,, I'll continue here. To bring ya'll up to speed,,the  305 in thet trk is wasted,,,flat camshaft ,,,,8 of the lifters are dished pretty bad and the cam bearings were fixin to wipe out. Funny the rod bearings look great as welll as the mains.

 I went to look at a small 4 wheeler in The MarketPlace for my Grandson and when we drug it outa the barn,,,,,,,, LO And Behold there lays a Big Block Chevy engine,just lookin for a home,,,,, I ask the farmer what the story is on the engine and he tells me he was pullin a trailer full of cows back from El Paso and a radiator hose blew and he had to get where he could put water in radiator but engine had a miss all the way home,,so he ordered a new engine and swapped it out and it been on the barn floor since.

 I ask him if it for sale and he goes to thinkin,,,,and,,,thinkin and after bout 10 minutes,,,he tells me since you bought the 4 wheeler for your Grandson,,I think you are a pretty good Guy so I'll let you have the engine PLUS the turbo 400 still bolted up to the BBC ,,,,,for $300 plus $25 for the 4 wheeler.  CHIT,,I just about RIPPED my pants pocket gettin my wallet out to pay him before he changes his mind,,,,!!!

 I get it home and get my pressure blaster and clean it up good.  I pulled spark plugs and  all are clean except #8 and the compression on it is 40# where all others are 140-155# I'm thinkin head gasket,,,??

 That 454 is fixin to make the  Curtain Climber I sell it to,,,, one heck of a staus symbol

 Well  I just might, Thad,,,It shore is a pretty thing,,! Now if it was a short wide 4X4 ,,,,I'd fight somebody for it,,,,especially with thet wicked lookin BBC, The engine has the factory Chrome valve covers with the  decal "The Heartbeat OF America" ,,

 I am SOOoooo pizzed at Apple as my Iphone 8 Plus just does not want to transfer pics to my PC, The phone takes some really beautiful pics,,,just don't want to transfer em. Closest Apple Repair store is a 4 hour trip up in the Duke City and I don't really want to send it to them and be without a phone for prolly two weeks,,,,,,,,chit, chit,,,

 Well,,a bit of an update on the BBC in the Silverado, I got it all tore down and the cylinders are in great shape with just a touch of ridge on 3 of them but pistons came out without havin to ream em. Could prolly re-use the rod and main bearings but the kit I ordered includes all bearings including the cam bearings.Just gots to do some more clean up and get  block and heads ready for paint.

  I had planned to use the Turbo 400 that was with the BBC instead of the one in the Silverado as I always like to install the engine and tranny bolted together but this BBC is one heavy sob,,,fact is when I bolted the BBC to my engine stand,,,,the engine stand sure sagged down so much I was afraid it was gonna break the friggin bolts, so,,I hooked the chain hoist to the front snout for safety,,,Now thinkin I'm gonna put em in one at a time

 Now waitin on UPS,,

 This is the first BBC I've ever had,,altho,,I have worked on a lot of them that was just farm trks not no Hot Rods,,,,but,,,,but,,I've been around em at the drags and they do got a tune all their own

 Well,,,ole Chask ,,,he gots him a  lots better memory than any of us,,I reckon,,,,, I had been tryin to help a friend that has him a wreckin yard up in the Alien Town cause he likes me and gives me car and trk parts at cut rate price,,,,like in free,,,,,,

 He gots him one of them Shameless type old loaders thet he uses to move them clunkers around at his wrecking yard. It's an old Hyster built I think in the 40's (before my time) and the carb was acting up and no kit to be found any where,,so I tuk it off and brought it home to UMMm,,,,"modify it". After hunting all over and not findin a replacement carb or even a kit,, What I done is make an adapter bout 4" tall from a 3 bolt flange to a 2 bolt flange and used a single barrel Carter I had laying around. Cleaned the Carter up and mounted it on the modified adapter and tuk it back to the Alien city to install on his Hyster loader. Ole Charlie took one look at it and smiled as he says "you grew up poor like me didn't you?" "You gotta do what you gotta do" has always been my motto,,,,,

 Anyways,,the old loader fired right up and only had to adjust the air screw a tad and ,,,,bingo,,,,she runs like a top,,,,chit ole Charlie told me I could have anything I needed from his yard for the next 20 years,,,and,,,and,,that's the troot,,!!!

 Well,,I gots to confess,,,, I am plumb out of available time durin these days ,,it bein so friggin HOT,,,so,,I figured I could sell the Silverado lots faster,,,fact is ,,there is this young curtain climber that stopped by the day I drove it off the trailer and him wantin to buy it right then and there and offered several hundred dollars more than I had just paid for it, but Huh! uhh!,,,they's some serious money to be made with thet trk when I get it finished,,, So,,I told thet young un to start savin his money if he was serious,,,,he don't know,,yet,,that it fixin to have a Big Azzed  BBC when it rolls out of here. He drives by the house every other day,,I kinda feel for him,,,,,

 So Ya see,,,,,it just a matter of priorities right now,,but I did locate a manifold for a great price and I think I gots everything to put it together ,,,,when I get around to orderin the overhaul parts,,,,,I ain't forgotten as much as just walkin around it,,,,
