Picked up a Russell Road Plow No.6 at an auction.

I find in old books (1916) it is for road construction and I am guessing, with a team of horses, etc..

However, not sure what its used for?  Maybe ditching??

Thanks,

Carl

I think you'll find that was the "rippers' of the day.  Used to loosen dirt for scooping for whatever.

Definitely used in dam (pond) construction - my father and various uncles were in that game.

Dad and one uncle had, as part of their kit, a small one modified to make the furrow along fences for burying the foot of rabbit and dog netting
