Looks like woven brake lining, no offense, but I see that as a mistake, it won't last very long and is extremely grabby, the hard lining behind the band is much much better. Be sure to check you rivets with a magnet unless you specify tubular brass modern rivets are brass plated steel and they will destroy your drums

Good to know Tad- I'll keep that in mind if I ever do one again. First time for me doing brake linings- I don't know what those linings are made of, but you want to wear gloves, I got my hands full of tiny slivers! Honestly, I don't think it's going to matter much- I'd be very surprised if this machine gets more than a couple hundred hours on it, mostly done through nostalgia- if you know what I mean.

I sure understand the nostalgia aspect of these repairs. My 16 is just a labor of love and not a need. I have roughly 50 yours on her since I got her 3 years ago. Most of that just tooling around the field looking for a tree or stump to destroy.
