I'm in the process of gathering parts for a rat rod that I'm putting together for a national build off. It's a 301 from a 7020 tractor. Does anyone have experience with putting a conventional transmission behind one? I'd like to run a Spicer 6+. Where I'm running a 2 speed rear from an old farm truck, the 7th gear overdrive in the 6+ will give me excellent low rpm highway cruising speeds.

Biggest concern once adapt to Automotive is fuel system, the tractor pumps do not have advance/retard mechanisms as far as I am aware and cannot adapt to altitude changes. May want to look into that as well.

Thanks for the input. I plan on running a p7100 pump from a 5.9 Cummins I found to make it more drivable. As far as a transmission is concerned, I think I'm going to end up with an NV4500 5 speed from a Dodge pickup. I'm beginning to think this is my best option...?
