Did all CA blocks have that "diamond" cast in the right side? I have a 52 CA without it.
  I also have a yellow B with it and other CA parts on it.

That diamond on the side of the CA block is where a fuel pump could be mounted for stationary engines as in those used in the amusment ride engines.
