I want to put an affordable small alternator on my D14. I do not want to change the belt that is on it with the 6 volt generator. Changing the belt is not a pleasant option. I have tried 2 others have used already.   thanks,Larry

The "old time alternator" was the DELCO 10 SI ......... the newer alternator from the 2000 era is the DELCO 130 which is about an inch smaller in diameter. That is a good fit... Shaft size should be the same as the old generator, just take the old pulley and put on the new alternator........... You need to modify or change the bracket to mount the alternator.

I think Steve at B&B makes a kit if you want to simplify the process.

Will that smaller alternator fit a G with no sheet metalwork needed?

All of my D-14s have CS-130 series alternators, used original genny pulley and I think a b35 belt(?). They all have different mounting adapter plates of course.... on the 'list' is to make 3 of ONE style, but so far no one's complained. If the 'correct cops' do then THEY can make/buy 3 adapters.
As for a G, ther's pix here of a small 'Denso' unit in a G, NO tin work needed !

I used a small Alternator on my D17 due to my limited room. It was only $60 or so.

The Double D's have alternators also but they have more room to work with.

Even if it only puts out 35 AMPS that's more than enough for any vintage tractor. Nice looking tractors, btw.

can someone varify that they used the same belt as the generator? Changing my belt could be 4 hours at best or 2 weeks and professional help that has to come to me.

If you change over to a "SI" or the "CS" series Alternators like Steve(IL) has on his B, the .670 mainshaft is the same as the Delco Generator. You could then install the 5/8" Generator's pulley on those two units. If you move to the pint size Denso that Charlie has on his D17, then you would need a special pulley to fit the small shaft Denso using the 5/8" belt. The Denso comes with the common 1/2" pulley like the Delco "SI" & "CS" Alts for later autos, but the mainshaft is much smaller. We have our CNC machined pulley made specifically for the pint size Denso if interested. We offer a CNC machined 5/8" pulley for the "SI" & "CS pulleys also if your Gennie pulley is damaged or bent.
