Anybody have jap beetle infestations? They moved in here again a couple weeks ago an have destroyed most of the fruit trees and grapes in this area along with everything else, if it's green,--its game. Anybody know of a contact type killer? --All the sprays that I can find will only kill them after they eat the plants, That don't help because more keep coming in to replace the dead ones so you never gain anything spraying them. thanks; ac fleet ------------- http://machinebuildersnetwork.com/ |

they sell 'pheromone traps' (sp) . kinda pricey but they WORK ! We trapped 1,000s 2-3 seasons ago... not many last year or this(so far...) ------------- 3 D-14s,A-C forklift, B-112 Kubota BX23S lil' TOOT( The Other Orange Tractor) Never burn your bridges, unless you can walk on water |

I actually put some powder on my lawn years ago and haven't been pestered by them since. I got it from Earl May seed company. Dang memory I can't rember the name of the stuff. |

I buy a few 20# bags of "BUG GRANUALS" and spread on the lawns in the spring. Basically to kill the GRUBS and any other "BUG" that is in the ground.. The moles eat GRUBS and I wanted to get rid of them.... Side benefit is ANY BUG that is growing in the ground or hibernating during the winter, gets killed in the early spring.... No moles, No GRUBS, no Beatles, no ants ... and just about anything else. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

The beetle bags are the way to go. Then I take them and toss them in the burn barrel when I got a fire going. Oh, put the traps on your property line so any that miss the trap end up in your neighbor yard! ------------- D14, D17, 5020, 612H, CASE 446 |

They were terrible here a few years ago, but you rarely see one in the last couple of years. I had one fly into my ear while mowing about 5 years ago. I tried to get the wife to get him out with tweezers, but all that did was piss him off and claw through by eardrum. You talking about pain, had the wife rush me to the hospital then to just get some relief. Ended up with a ear infection afterwords, which required several visits to a specialist and about a month to straighten out. I try to wear earplugs when I mow since then.

| Believe it or not if you mix dawn dish soap with water and put it in a sprayer it kills them on contact Doesn't take too much dawn but don't remember ratio. Just play with it but it does work almost instantly |

I baptised a bunch on the plum tree last week with liquid sevin, they said it wouldn't work but I had a bunch fall to the ground struggling and they're gone now but saw a few on the blackberries. ------------- Maximum use of available resources! |

Problem with the traps is you are attracting the bugs from all over. Better to kill what is there if you can. We use the granules by our cabin to keep the ticks down. Works very well. ------------- Everything is impossible until someone does it! WD45-trip loader 1947 c w/woods belly mower, 1939 B, #3 sickle mower 1944 B, 2 1948 G's. Misc other equipment that my wife calls JUNK! |

| I use sevin in powder and it does the trick for me, make sure you're down wind when applying it and it stay on the leaves long I think. JMO |

A BIG ten four for what ole Dustin and Ted says,,,  A friend of mine found what turned out to be a swarm of Africanized bees that had moved into a crack in the eave of his house. He,,or rather THEY found him when he was nailin a board over a hail storm broken window on the back side of his house,,,,,he got stung 3 times before he could get off the ladder to run. Some of them got in house thru the broken window and stung his wife too. He asked me for help and I went over AFTER DARK with two cans of thet stuff thats susspossed to reach 27 ft and kill em instantly,,,,only'ist thing it hard to hit em while you are running away ,,cause they came out swarming soon as they felt me climbin the ladder, in the DARK,,!!,,,,,, Talked to the fire chief next day and he said they would take care of them,,I asked what they used and he tells me,," we mix one bottle of DAWN dish soap with one gallon of water and spray em DEAD soon as the mix touches them,,,!!! My friend says them bees are gone now,,,, I remember when that big tanker spilled its oil up in Alaska,,they showed them cleaning them duckies with DAWN ,,,,!!! Amazing,stuff,,!!

Dang Joe  finally one of them thar furgal ideas I got some use for.Those super cheap but mostly stripped of good parts HD 5's that arrived last week all have wasps living inside them. I just need you or O'l Shameless to get them sturred up to come out of the insides Then I give them a bath with that Dawn soap out of my little 12 volt sprayer.With will guys be coming to help,I got the fridge well stocked with a black label. but
 This is a new brand expensive beer made local by Firestone Walker. Got to good beer to get help anymore. |

So far, I have sprayed Eight, Spinosad, Sevin, Fruit tree spray, Garden vegitable spray, and have the ground covered with dead bugs!---Problem is that more keep coming in. ---Trees/grape vines are brown/bare and now they are moving onto the sweet potatoes and sweet corn. I planted the sweet corn in stages this year and the first planting is trying to pollinate/set ears and beetles are on the silks.---I hit them with spray daily, just enough to wet them and they kinda slow down chewing and move on to something else. I have been hauling water to some of the gardens since we don't get rain here anymore and the beetles love the heat/dry conditions from what I can see. More heat coming up in a couple of days so things are getting ruff. Still looking for a contact type beetle killer, but none found.---Well cept gas!--That puts a stop to them, BUT can't put that on plants. Tried dawn and it don't work on these! They just crawl out and fly away!--I want them dead! Looks like some sort of soil applied insecticide is the only way to get some of them.--This might also help on the colorado potato beetles too.
