As I recall, when Dave Maddux and I were traveling, we were resilient enough to get to where we were going and back. We may have left a few parts along the road during the trips, (actually every trip), but we were tough enough to see it through. Now we also didn't borrow a truck from just anybody when we planned these trips. I do feel bad that Todd got dragged in to this fiasco but if you happen on Facebook you might wish Darrell Grams good luck limping back to Minnesota. Maybe I should post a play by play account of their trip like somebody did ours, isn't it just amazing what comes around if you wait long enough. I told him I wouldn't post anything until noon, he shouldn't have believed that either.

They were headed back to MN with their tail between their legs at a top speed of 55mph when the truck woke back up. Seems they have turned around, ( obviously to limit shame), and are headed back to Missouri, Todd might be resting his right foot and pedal on the front bumper. I think the plan is if they can make it to the MO state line they can coast the rest of the way in.

As I understand it, the "Def quality poor" light came on before they
left and pouring in new and hoping the light goes out is not the
approach one should take when embarking on an eight hundred mile round
trip, but you can ask Darrell for clarification on that. After a couple hours driving another message came on that stated, upon restart, it would impose a 55mph top speed. When I got the call I googled it and sent them a text to turn around because after the 55mph limit it would then impose a 5mph speed limit. I don't understand why but not trusting my advice he calls a mechanic that tells him how to reset the computer by unhooking all the battery cables for a certain period. It didn't appear to work as they headed back and after 25 miles or so the lights went off and the engine woke up. Of course this was after Todd calls his wife to de-trailer a rescue truck and she's headed towards them.
They are loaded and heading back today with a big trailer with a half a U parts tractor, a 250 gal. tote full of parts and a very nice looking D14 that Dave Maddux probably should have autographed before it left. I was feeling sorry for Todd but Tyson had to ride in the back seat with Dad and Grandpa in the front and had absolutely no say in anything and had to endure all the goings on plus all the commentary.

They made it home, drove all night. I suspected they didn't want to shut the truck off but Darrell said something about getting back before the grocery stores open, seems the truck has a tendency to veer toward them on its own.
