i bet those rascals can really plow. Could probably plow more ground in one night than a guy with a tractor. At least a guy with a John Deere tractor.

I thought lean bacon was the preferred style.  More spensive at the store.  Confused

Dave, I kinda know what you mean, but I also think that the words "lean" and "bacon" do not belong in the same sentence.  Kinda an oxi-moron?  Thumbs Up

A couple years ago, i read an article about them being established in  Fulton county,Il .
From what I read, it was thought that someone brought them up to have hogs to hunt on their property. Somebody would probably hang the guy, if they ever caught him and didn't get him in protective custody right away.

Feral hogs are in MO now, had our run in with them at the Gladden MO Farm some time back. Not good.

There is a old saying about when a piney woods rooter is fat enough to butcher. You pick them up by the ears. If the hind feet come off the ground first, fatten them up some more.

They’re all around here but seldom seen. There’s enough cover they can stay hidden in the daylight. Dogs are a must for hunting here. They are here today and gone tomorrow. They stay on the move.
They were attacking the care takers and visitors of the Cemetery and lake leatherwood park.
They killed two of one of my coworkers dogs.
A couple years back a bunch of small ones which were spotted and very domestic ran across the road in front of me. A (I’m guessing) 400 lbs boar crossed after them and charged my truck. He didn’t look at all domestic. Long tusks. I would have shot him but it was a very populated area. I haven’t seen any since.
If they get over 100 lbs you can’t eat them from here. Trappers feed them corn before they butcher them and they taste ok. We’ve never had them here but they have been close.
I read that they are in all lower 48 states and Hawaii

My wife prefers the texture and taste of the young ones like these to any store bought pork . The meat is dark .  She will bone out a whole hind quarter or front shoulder and slow cook in the crock pot. mmm so good.
We try to always keep plenty young wild hog on hand in the freezer.
We don't see them very often up in the day. They do most of their rootin during the night. There is a huge old trap smart boar hog who comes and goes rootin up the lawn and digging for acorns under the oak trees close to the house. We hope to get a chance one day to feed this sucker to the buzzards.
We will never be rid of them around here. There are thousands of posted acres of reclaimed lignite mining operations all around here.  I have seen herds of 40 or 50 at once crossing the roads between here and town. All colors shapes and sizes.
