I stopped to get a couple beverages this evening and a local guy had a advertisement for hunting coyotes on your property. We sure could use any help to eradicate those predators. He claimed to use the latest and greatest night vision technology and didn't need to run dogs old school. He will hunt your property for free. Sounds great but as you get older you think to much. What kinda liability would you be taking on allowing someone on your property in this litigious society we live in nowadays?? Ryan

Im pretty sure some kind of waiver needs signed. Kinda like sign at Ft Worth stockyard where the kids set on Longhorn steers for pictures after signing waiver. Sign on fence said not responsible for possible injury or death caused by animals.

Hey Ryan,,the issue I see is that night hunting could be dangerous to neighbor's animals or family cause they won't know who or what is behind the coyote(s) Even .22's have an effective range of 1/4 mile,,,,,,,??

First thing to do is get to know the guy.
If he seems like a good guy proceed from there.
How much land do you have. It takes a bit if he’s calling.
Sets are usually over a mile apart. Can you get the neighbors onboard?
How close are your neighbors? Like Joe said night hunting can be dangerous.

Check with your local game warden and police department about liability. Most guys are just really looking for a place to enjoy their sport.

Cant hunt coyotes after dark until winter season , same as coon hunting . Daylight shoot as many as you want whenever you want. My friend Chuck has several powerful lights that he can use to make their eyes light up from far away .As long as you hold the light on their eyes they cant see .The calls he uses work well but just for a short while before they get wise .

I don't allow rifles on my property. Not even a .22. People want to shoot, they're going to shoot no matter what. What the heck, it's not my land. Am I right? If someone even broke out a window or hit someone's car shooting from your land, I don't know if the law will hold you liable or not. It ain't worth it. Besides, I kind of like to shoot the coyote myself. I haven't seen hair nor hide of one since I killed that one on January 11th.

I have allowed BB/pellet guns, bows, cross bows, and shotguns on my property in the past. No one has ever asked if they hunt with a pistol.
