Got a bad turbo on my 190xt. Says Rayjay Garrett roto master on it. #1 is it feasible to have it rebuilt or cheaper to buy a new one? #2 I can get a air research from agco dealer for 500 plus a 50 conversion kit. What's the conversion kit look like and can I purchase that somewhere else? I assume it's new oil lines and fittings. #3 I've seen some turbos on eBay new for under 400$ anybody ever bought one off of eBay ? Worried about warranty. #4 any other suggestions on where to buy one ? I would go with the new unit if it were mine. There's likely some better performing new design in the new unit. I've also had customers either rebuild their own or gotten cheap rebuilds done that didn't live long. How's that old saying go? I put one on my 190XT Series II last year. I used a A&I TO4B80 The Turbo is actually made in England I had to make a oil line but it was pretty easy ------------- Charlie '48 B, '51 CA, '56 WD45 '61 D17, '63 D12, '65 D10 , '68 One-Ninety XTD |

| I don't have an answer to your questions but had a turbo replaced by a local independent shop 8 years ago and seemed like the cost of l/m was around $800 but I think some brake work/misc. work was done also. Did you or Charlie have any trouble getting bolts out of the exhaust housing? I have often looked at those bolts as well as the manifold bolts and cringe at the thought of them snapping. |

I have mentioned this before, the 7020 or late 649I on the M3 works equally well. I have them on 301's at the farm. Adds about 2# of boost - clears up the smoke - more boost at mid range 1600 - 1900 Rpm... Same turbo but has .58 A/R exhaust instead of the .69 on the 190 -200 's. Just FYI - edit - I re read the post - of course the fittings are different as is the cross over discharge tube between the Rayjay and the AirResearch .
